Ives Run COE Park in Tioga, PA and meeting our first Blogger!!!

2011-08-07 Lewisburg, PA

Saturday we were pretty much rained on most of the night and most of the morning and temperature settled down to 69 degrees. This is a far cry from what is happening back where we use to live as it was 103 for the high and never got below 77… scorching back home in Texas! So with the rain we caught up on few of our favorite tv shows using the internet and readied the place for leaving on Sunday.

2011-08-07 HWY 15 Adirondacks PA 001The rain broke for a bit in the afternoon and allowed us to sneak in a short walk in the nearby town of Lewisburg, PA. This is another PA town that has a really good vibe to it. Some towns you can walk into and they are nice but others like the historic downtown of Lewisburg have an energetic feel. We really pay attention to these towns as they may be future homes for us… But the winters up here are way too cold for our liking...

2011-08-07 HWY 15 near Tioga, PASunday we woke up later than normal for a travel day since we only had to go around 100 miles to our next destination at Ives Run Park. This Corp of Engineer park is located in the Adirondack Mountains of northeastern PA. We chose this park due to the many accolades espoused by Jill and her blog Two Tools and a Dream. The drive through the Adirondacks on state highway 15 was a wonderfully scenic drive and the road from Williamsport to Tioga PA was in exceptional condition.

2011-08-07 Ives Run Park, Tioga, PA 001We checked in at the gate that Steve-0 was manning and then set up camp by about 2:40pm. After a bike around the park to get our feel of it we went back to the RV for dinner. This park is fabulous, rolling hills, forested mountain tops, blue lake and is well maintained. The sites are all on concrete pads, many with full hook ups like ours, and the sites are very wide and very scenic. The price is a bit steep at $32 per night but even on a Sunday there are not many sites vacant in this park.

2011-08-07 Ives Run Park, Tioga, PA site 83After dinner we took a walk to see if we could meet with Jill and Steve but we were not sure which one was their motorhome so we went back to the camp. We sat outside enjoying the cool evening air when I looked up and could see Jill and Steve walking their dog. After greetings we sat at the picnic table and shared stories about what we had both learned in our short RV’ing lives. We compared our newbie experiences since we both have similar backgrounds in that we just jumped into RV’ing with both feet and no experience. We had never even camped much as a couple before buying our current RV we call home…

What a pleasure it was to meet Jill and Steve and we knew there would be a time that we would meet a fellow blogger. It couldn’t have been better because we had that sense that we’d known them for some time although this was our first encounter outside of virtual land… they were both exactly as I had envisioned… lively, energetic, and fun to be around!

  3. I just met my first fellow bloggers, too. It's like you've already met, isn't it? I'm sure we'll both meet many more down the road - maybe we'll meet each other! :)

  5. Wish we could have taken a quick drive up & met all of you. We're 4 hours southeast of Tioga. A little too far for a daytrip. Love Jill's blog as well!

  7. I do hope we get to meet up someday. I think we will be stuck in the west for awhile, but it's not a bad place to be. Thanks for the helpful comments on my blog. I'm glad to read you like your Tiffin FRED. We may be looking into them next.

  10. We sure do recognize that picture of the bridge as I took a few just like it only a week or so ago.

Gotta love the COE parks. We will be staying at another one on Thompson Lake in CT from the 18th to 25th. However, we being "old" get 1/2 off the fee with the Federal Golden Pass. Age has it's benefits!

  11. 100 miles sounds like the perfect day. Thanks for the tip on this COE campground.

We jumped into this thing too without ever having camped in an RV, we were always tent campers for YEARS and weeks at a time. I'll bet the 4 of you had great stories to share.
