Last day in Vero and on to the Big “O”…

image

imageOur last day in the Vero Beach area had us spending some more time at the beach and with Sharon’s cousin. Just after lunch we headed on over to the nearest beach and what a perfect beaching day it was… The water was the calmest we have experienced on the east coast of Florida and the reward was the beautiful aqua-marine colored waters.

I tried my hand at a little surf fishing but once again I didn’t get any bites. No big deal, as I put away my gear and we went on a nice long beach walk. Simply put the Florida beaches are the most beautiful in the entire United States. I think they are even comparable to many of imagethe beautiful Caribbean beaches we have been to. I do admit that the west coast may be more scenic with the stacks and cliffs that abound there but the beaches themselves are not a beautiful as the ones in Florida. And unlike the West Coast the water temperature was a warm 80 degrees so we couldn't resist playing in the waves like youngsters.

After a nice day at the beach we drove over to Vero Beach to meet John and Penny for happy hour at the Cobalt. The beachside bar and restaurant had a great happy hour with some pretty tasty food specials. My rock shrimp and the Angus sliders were excellent!!! We had a blast re-visiting with John and Penny and certainly look forward to our next encounter with them.

The next morning we broke camp but as I was putting away the sewer hose I noticed as I was dumping the grey water that it had several small holes in it. Sharon told me that she had heard the guy with the weed eater the day before and it sounded like he was hitting our stuff outside with it. Can you believe that the hose we rescued just a few days earlier had now been destroyed by a guy with a weed eater!

Sharon called the front desk at Sunshine Travel RV Resorts and asked if there was anything they could do for us. The nice lady at the front office told us to go buy a new one right imageaway and they would reimburse us. Wow! I certainly didn’t expect that and we definitely whole-heartedly recommend this park as a nice place to stay for anyone wanting to visit Vero Beach Florida.

With only 180 miles left before we arrive at Bonita Springs where we will stay three months we decided to stop at the mid-point near Moore Haven Florida. We found that Sun RV Resorts was offering a BOGO (buy one get one free) during the month of October at the North lakes RV Resort so we booked two nights. It was an easy 90 mile drive west and we pulled into site 58…

  2. Paul just hates when the lawn service guys are around. We actually will cancel our plans if they are mowing. Paul will sit outside and watch them mow/weedeat around our hose. We have been hit by mowers before. Paul said never again.

  3. We've been left with debris and wet grass all over our RV, walkway and patio from site landscapers but have been lucky enough not to have holes in our hose or electric cord. At times we've stood and watched hoping to intimidate but they seem to be so into their job function that we've been ignored. You lucked out with getting that new hose.

  4. Very nice of the park to replace your hose. Guess you were just "lucky" to have been the on the day they do the trimming. Did Sharon find the Bogo on the site or does she have a more general site she uses to find these things. Great idea to cut a 180 mile trip in half with a bogo.

  5. Nice they replaced your hose, we've developed holes in our hose because of careless landscapers. Like the BOGO deal Sharon scored.
