Green Bay Wisconsin and Meeting with Friends!

image

The first day after arriving in Green Bay we took care of our normal chores such as cleaning the RV and doing laundry. It rained off and on a lot of the second day but on our third day we had the pleasure of meeting up with a great couple we met last time we were in Green Bay, Mary Kay and Mike.  They retired since we last met (well, Mike still works a few days a week on his own terms) and it was fun getting together with them again.

What a whirlwind day we had as they picked us up and we began the morning with our first stop at the Green Bay Famers Market. Although it is not nearly as big as the one in Madison, it was a lot more enjoyable as it wasn’t nearly as crowded and everything was simply more manageable. We sampled some good breads, pastries, cheeses and some tasty Elk jerky however we only bought a few fresh veggies as we were pretty stocked up at home.

Not knowing the agenda was a treat as Mike and Mary Kay were driving and making the plans as we went. Mike decided our next stop should be south to Appleton Wisconsin where he wanted to take us to one of the oldest breweries in Wisconsin, Stone Cellar Brewpub (built in 1858). Since I love architecture and breweries this was a great way to start the afternoon off! Good beer, good conversation and good friends… perfect!!!

Since we were in town our next stop was the Appleton Beer Factory where we stopped in for another good craft beer. My Eh-P-Eh which was an American Pale Ale was pretty good! We continued swapping tales catching up from not seeing each other for 3 years.  We are continuously amazed at how the like-minded people we have met have become such cherished friends and even though we may not see each other for years, we seem to pick right up where we left off.

Next we headed back to Green Bay as our last stop was to be at the Titletown Brewery. This is the spot we first met Mike and Mary Kay so Mary Kay wanted to re-create the moment by taking the same photo out front 3 years later. Titletown expanded in the time we have been gone and built a new rooftop bar and taproom across the street from the main building.  It was really fun to visit the new additions and what a great view of downtown Green Bay we had that beautiful sunny afternoon from the rooftop bar. We finished the day off over some really good Buffalo Burgers and then it time to go home.

We sure had a blast reconnecting with Mary Kay and Mike. They rotate time between Wisconsin and Florida so we are already making plans for next year to meet up in Florida.  Not everyone we meet on the road is fulltime in their RV but there are lots of fun loving folks out there who are enjoying retirement just like us!  Mary Kay said its a carefree time in our lives... almost like being senior teenagers ("seenagers")! What a great day!

NOTE: Today we are moving on over to Dorchester City Park in Dorchester Wisconsin…
