Mesa Arizona… It’s a Wrap! On to Ajo!

Our time here in Mesa is finally coming to an end as we will be leaving here on February 1st to travel to Shadow Ridge RV Park in Ajo, AZ for four nights. It will be our staging area before heading down into Mexico. We still hope to go to Puerto Penasco but are ever vigilant watching what our president may do to upset the Mexican people. We really don’t expect much whiplash from his executive orders but we figure it is always wise to be cautious.

The weather in Mesa has finally normalized and for our last few days here we are enjoying some nice warm weather. Friends of ours from Betty’s RV Park came into the park and we have had fun meeting with them for happy hour and socializing.

Also a friend of ours from our years in College Station whom we haven’t seen since the early 1980’s found out we were in Mesa. He and his wife live in Tempe. One day our friend DJ drove over to pick us up and took us to a really nice disc golf course. Paseo Vista Recreation Area   was once a city landfill!  Now this once mountain of garbage offers a playground, archery range, disc golf course, dog park and hiking/walking trails.

We had fun being out in the sunny warm weather and playing a good round of disc golf with our friend form the past. Thanks DJ for taking us to this course we would have otherwise missed. The next day DJ and his wife came over to our park for happy hour and it was fun to catch up on things that have happened since we last saw each other around 1984 or 1985.

imageAnyway, yesterday we began the process of putting things up after our 36 day stay here in Mesa and today we hit the road once again. Our last night in Mesa we met up with Rick and Barb for happy hour at the Mesa Regal pool. Afterwards we headed over to Waldo’s BBQ a short 1/2 mile walk from the park. What great fun we had our last evening with our RV friends. After we said our “see you later’s” Sharon and I headed back to the RV but before turning in for the night we went over for one last soak in the hot tub and pool last night.

The weather forecast for the next ten days looks fantastic so we hope to be hiking in the beautiful desert soon….

NOTE: We will head south to Ajo on Feb. 1st. and then to Puerto Penasco in Sonora Mexico on Feb 5th…
