Chilling in Tucson AZ….

image

We had a few nice days here in Tuscon before the next front came through so we did get out and do some grocery shopping  to refill out depleted refrigerator after our visit to Mexico. We consumed just about everything we had so it was sure nice to see it full again. It is especially nice to see that my door repair seems to be holding up nicely.

I also had to repair one of the doors of our two door Norcold after the bottom hinge failed. Basically the plastic holding the hinge pin inside the door cracked and busted out. This was caused the plastic insert that holds the pin on the door hinge to sink in deeper into the inside door foam once the outer plastic failed. Fortunately I was able to scrounge some parts from my collection of “stuff that I might need” and with the help of some JB Weld (they have a product for everything and they work fantastically!)  I filled the hole and attached a new piece to support the hinge. So far it appears to be working.I sure hope it does as a replacement door is over $600.00!

With the cool overnight temperatures we rarely venture out until after noon  Our routine has been doing our weights workouts then hiking the scenic trails in our back yard here at Diamond J RV Resort. We did, however have a couple of fun outings recently.

One such treat was that MonaLiza invited us along with John and Pam of Oh the Places they Go and Suzi and Dave of Beluga’s Excellent Adventures. We had sort of a mini-blogger fest  and it was fun to finally meet Suzi and Dave.  We wish Joe and Gay of good-times-rollin could have made it also so we could have met them too but we will have to hopefully cross paths with them again someday. MonaLiza was making her famously delicious Lumpias so we happily whipped up some chicken and veggie fried rice as our contribution. We remembered those awesome Lumpias from when MonaLiza made them on her birthday in Ajo.  Watching her fry them up on her induction burner affirmed our desire to upgrade to induction once our electric burners bite the dust.

We had a blast sharing stories and eating fabulous happy hour vittles. And as a special blessing to our gathering a Great Horned Owl flew just above our heads landed high up in a Juniper tree near our gathering. He sat there for a good while hooting entertaining us as he bent over to get out a deeper sound. How cool was that?

Another day we drove into town for an urban hike at the University of Arizona. we wandered into a campus tavern called Illegal Pete’s to enjoy some nice craft beverages. While sitting out on the porch watching everyone carrying on with their daily lives, we marveled once again at the fun we are experiencing everyday in this awesome traveling lifestyle…

NOTE: We are now in Justin’s Diamond J RV Park in Tucson Arizona until March 4th when we will begin our trek to Texas…

  1. I second JB Weld as a must have! It also comes in marine and high-temp, which I used on a furnace repair a few years ago. Nice to see the sunshine in your pictures! Time with the fellow bloggers is something we need to do more of.
