The Magnificent Everglades National Park

DSCN0469

All good times must come to an end as happened with our stay in Key West, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t have some fun on the way home. It would be a five hour drive back to Bonita Springs but luckily for us Shark Valley in the Everglades National Park happened to be  a little more than halfway home. For anyone like us who enjoys seeing lots of birds and alligators, this is a wonderful place to visit …

Below is the photographic proof of the great day we had…

NOTE: We are back at our winter site until March 1st in Bonita Springs, Florida…

  2. A baby alligator!, Just the right size to take home :) One of the things I like about reading the blogs is the ability to experience vicariously the best parts. Great pictures, John.

  4. Shark Valley in the Everglades will always be a memorable visit to us, mostly because I was in awe (and fear) of how easily and freely we were allowed to walk the roads among the animal habitats. When we were there a few years go, numerous gators were sunning themselves partially on the roads as we strolled by; of course, we gave them a wide berth. But some of the parents were also walking the road with their small children; these children were fascinated with the gators and their long tails. I was holding my breath.

    1. Yes you simply have to look away sometimes when people don't respect their space...
