Hanging out at a Farm in the Shenandoah Valley, VA..

We really had a great two nights in Harrisonburg, Virginia but it came time to move another hour north on Interstate 81 near the town of Tom’s Brook. Our daughter Katie was riding shotgun for half the ride as she had never been in the motorhome while it was moving. She did seem to enjoy it almost as much as our grandkids did back in Texas. We stopped at a rest stop and she traded places with Sharon and followed us the rest of the way in her car.

The plan is to spend about five nights at a friend of ours farm near Tom’s Brook. Our friends Jerry and Kathleen have a beautiful farm in the Shenandoah Valley. We pulled into their farm and parked our RV alongside the main house. We will be just visiting the RV over the several days as we will be staying in our friends house. Sharon is especially looking forward to making great use of one of their bathtubs. That is one thing she misses while traveling on the road – a hot soaking bath…

Katie has never been to our friends' farm but met the two of them while visiting us in San Diego. Jerry and Kathleen happened to be in San Diego at the same time so we invited them over for a Christmas dinner at our RV site. Every time we get together it feels like a party so we were glad Katie finally met them. As a result she is as excited to see them as we are!

We were last at the farm about two years ago and we both never tire of looking out over the beautiful Shenandoah Valley across the Shenandoah River and up the mountain on the far side. The greenery of the George Washington National Forest contrasts strikingly with the hay meadows and horse pastures below. Even though this area has seen little rain lately it is still very lush and green.

We certainly are going to enjoy this respite at the farm in the Shenandoah Valley…
