Friends, Brews, and Hiking among the Petroglyphs…

Image may contain: Sharon Hinton and Vicki Brothers, people smiling, hat, outdoor and closeupWe sure have enjoyed our stay here in Bernalillo. Every morning we walk around our campground with the beautiful Sandia Mountains as our view in the backdrop. We haven’t seen a lot of wildlife but did spot a baby bunny on one of our walks. However, one of the main reasons we came to the Albuquerque area was for Sharon to reconnect with one of her best friends.

Vicki and Roger invited out for dinner at  El Pinto, a fabulous New Mexican restaurant. An added treat was our friends (Vicki’s brother and sister in law) Dave and Kelly also had dinner with us that evening. While we forgot to get pictures of the culinary delight we did have a great time catching up on the days since we last met up.

The next day we met up with Vicki and Roger again at a Blues Music and Dinner at the Pueblo Cultural Center. We chatted away while enjoying the wood fired pizza cooked in traditional styled Pueblo ovens. It was another great time with our friends

While our friends were working during the week we found plenty to do. There are a lot of really good breweries in Albuquerque so we had to try out a few of them. The best IPA I had was La Cumbre Brewing’s Elevated IPA. The Bosque IPA at Bosque Brewing was a close second. We also loved Bosque's oatmeal stout. Yum!

One of our favorite places to hike while in Albuquerque is the Petroglyph National Monument. Since we had never hiked the Boca Negra trail that is the one we chose. With over 400 petroglyphs along the tail we had a blast checking out all of the art works on the rocks and trying to figure out what they might have been drawing.

Our last day before we were supposed to leave Roger and Vicky suggested meeting up at The Range Café for breakfast. It was a really neat little place in Bernalillo NM which was very popular and a bit quirky. There are several antique stoves throughout the restaurant adding to its charm. We had one last chat with our friends over what can only be described as some very, very good huevos rancheros with both red and green chili! What a grand way to wrap up our stay.

NOTE: We are currently in Chama NM…

  1. That's an awesome site for the glyphs, so many in such a compact area
