Arches National Park, Moab, Utah…

ABQ COLO and Arches NATL Park 153

We made the short drive over to Moab, Utah and pulled into Spanish Trails RV Park around lunchtime (nice that they take Passport America in June). Bad luck strikes us though and our CRV battery has died and the car won’t start. A fellow RV’er nearby offers us a jumpstart and the first order of business in Moab turns out to be buying a new battery instead of hiking right away. We found a great locally owned shop (Clarks Parts Plus) where I was able to buy an already charged battery. The fellow behind the counter said they sell a lot of batteries in town so they keep them charged.

Great so with a new battery in the CRV we head over to Arches National Park where we purchase a new annual pass for $80 and drive into the park. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! We spent the rest of the day taking in short hikes of less than 1.5 miles and looking at all the beautiful red rock scenery on display. I will say no more and leave only photographs of our most exquisite afternoon…

  2. Amazing place, isn't it!! Our very first visit was on a motorcycle trip. Imagine our expression as we drove up the park road with nothing to obscure our view. What a site!! Glad you are loving it!! We were there for a month last year and it wasn't long enough.

    1. Part of the reason we zoomed through Colorado was the ten day forcast was for cooler than usual temperatures. 80's and 90's. It has been awesome.

  9. If the temps are in the 80s, 90s, you picked the right time to be there. It is an amazing place. BTW, the Moab Brewery on the south end of town is kinda fun.

  11. Be sure to visit the Moab Visitors Center. They have great pamphlets on off-road trails that are great.
