Our blogs have been few and far between over the past three months as we have been preparing for our daughter’s wedding in Raleigh North Carolina. The wedding is over and as we begin to resume our nomadic life we are going to reflect back on the wedding day. Bear with us as we reflect on this glorious event… Sharon pens the blog about the wedding from her perspective and I chime in here and there as well.
In the days leading up to our daughter's wedding we were cooks (including a Texas styled brisket) and house cleaners to free her up for the endless last minute emails, phone calls and texts finalizing the big event. She and Brooks never seemed too rattled but each day became busier and busier with must do details. When we were given our weekend itinerary we kissed each other good night on Thursday pretty much realizing we wouldn't see much of each other in the blur of events to come during her wedding weekend.
Early Friday morning John and Brooks went to play golf with the groomsmen and Brooks' Dad. They also had Brooks' jeep filled to the brim with wedding signs, easels and decorations to drop off at the venue. Katie and I rushed to the airport to drop off my car for our son Jason to pick up when he and his family landed from Texas. We also needed to pickup a bridesmaid who flew in from Michigan. Back at Katie's townhouse we left a key for Jason's family then hurried to dress and apply makeup for a Bridesmaid luncheon in Smithfield, NC. One of Brooks' parents good friends was hosting this party at her beautiful lakeside home.
Upon arrival we were overwhelmed with the beautiful day because all the days prior had been rainy and windy as Hurricane Michael roared through the area. This was a glorious day. The house was straight out of Southern Living and was the perfect setting for this joyful gathering. The grandmothers, mothers, Brooks' Aunt and all the Bridesmaids were treated immediately to delicious mimosas while we greeted one another and posed for pictures.
Lunch was served which consisted of delicious salmon with capers, salad and mini pumpkin muffins. Next was a fantastic brownie fudge sauce whip cream deliciousness which received many ohhhs and ahhhs. After the luncheon Katie gifted her bridesmaids with cute little pj's to wear while they would have hair and makeup done the next day at the wedding. She also included matching earrings and a cute little thermal cup for their adult beverages with their names on them.
NOTE: We are now in Dillon SC for a short stopover before moving on to a RV park near Charleston SC as we slowly migrate to Florida…

ReplyDeleteJohn and Sharon - I have been following your blog since about the beginning. You inspired us. We have now been full-timing for about 7 months and love it. I haven’t checked in for awhile and to my amazement just saw that your daughter got married the same day as ours! October 13! Congratulations. We are heading south for the winter now - and hope to stay at Betty’s in March. All the best. Hope to see you on the road sometime. Best, Ian Schneiderman
