It was time to leave Sunland Park New Mexico and enter the state of Texas. In less than a mile we were in El Paso on our way to an overnight stay in Van Horn, Texas.
There is not much to do in Van Horn and really never has been but we always stay there because it's a good stop to break up a longer trip. Once again we stayed at Oasis RV Park for one night, another nice Passport America Park.
The next day we made our way down the road Southeast for about 73 miles to Marfa, Texas at the Tumble In RV Park, another of our favorite little spots on this stretch of highway 90 in Texas.
While there's not a lot to do in Martha either, it is an artsy town we always enjoy. We tookk a nice walk intown to check out the art museums. Art in Marfa is a little bit more quirky than in most art museums and it was no different this day.
One afternoon we drove up to Fort Davis State Park for a bit of walking and birding. It was nice being back up in the Davis Mountians of Texas and we saw some great birds at the birding blinds in the state park.
A great happy hour spot in Marfa is called Planet Marfa and although there were no IPAs on tap, we enjoyed a few bottled IPAs. The next night we went to the White Buffalo Bar, another one of our favorites only to find they had no beer on tap either and worse, no bottled IPAs. Thus, we headed home and had our own.
We were only in Marfa for a couple of nights and before we left we had to visit the lights located adjacent to our Park. This artistic rendition is really fun to visit at night with all the tall towers lit up with quirky designs.
We enjoyed our stay in Marfa, but it became time to move on to Marathon Texas our next stop...
