Life in the slow lane…

100_4278We have been looking for a place to stay for the last several days and have found that in central North Carolina there are not many real nice places to stay… however, the place we are staying in Aberdeen is much better than all the places we have been looking at. So it looks like we are boondocking here for a while since our friend encouraged us to stay here until we find a better place. There is a chance that this is the better place… so we are here until we get kicked out… lol.

100_4279We will stay here when she goes away for a while and watch her place and feed her dog so she won’t have to kennel her. This is the best place for us to stay for now and so it looks like we will be here boondocking for the next several weeks. We are taking a crash course in boondocking 101.

So we tried to make modifications to our closet only to learn it was much more difficult than we thought it would be. More on this story in another blog… so after that frustration we into the village of Pinehurst where many PGA golf tournaments are held. What a quaint and fun place to visit.  After having a nice  beer at Dugan’s pub, we walked around the village soaking in the sights of spring…tulips blooming, pear trees and pansies everywhere.

100_4282A must see in this area is the Carolina Inn. So historic with a wrap around porch and inviting rocking chairs revealing extraordinary panoramic views. After an enjoyable stop and walk around the village we headed to the town of Aberdeen to a new brewery called Railhouse Brewery.  A live band played who happened to be local 17 year olds  just branching out to the big time.  We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out because it completely erased the frustrations of the day.  We reminded ourselves we are not on a time constraint as were were in our past life so we can accomplish our goals in  the time it takes rather than rushing to get done as we have always done in our past life.  We are starting to get use to this.

  2. After a readin' bout that "wrap around porch" and then that "walk around the village" I were a thinkin' that when you got to that place called Railhouse Brewery, y'all was a gonna tell us it were a drink a round, and another round, and another round, till the whole place were just a spinnin' around type of establishment.

Then maybe you just left that part out, like you did with the happens in the closet, or yer just into square circles. I.M. thinkin' you may have a blog here that are a worthwhile fer my readin', what with it bein' a mystery series and all.

  3. yeo just slow down, if you don't get it done today, try again tomorrow, and if you find something else to do tomorrow, maybe another time. Enjoy the freedom.

  7. We are still learning that we don't have to hurry. We are much slower than we used to be however, and some of it is by choice!! In fact Russ bought a window sign for the car which reads, "I'm retired, go around me." We haven't had the nerve to actually put the sign in the car though.

  8. I would imagine that starting out, there would be the tendency to 'get going'..when you really don't have anywhere you have to be. Nice. :)

  9. It's good of you to take care of the dog for your friend. The dog probably is happier at home than in a kennel.

No moving for awhile will give you time to get things more organized.

Maybe you don't need everything in that closet!

  11. Isn't it just nice to take things easy and not have any major worries. Things always get done. Sounds like you probably have it made where you are. We like boondocking and will be doing quite a bit in Nova Scotia because the parks don't open up until May or so.

You had mentioned in your email to me about figuring out the internet stuff. When we were at Pete's last week he let us borrow his Verison Mi-Fi. It worked really well. He has a 2 year contract and pays $35 a month for 3g but can purchase another 1g for an extra $10 if needed. It hooks up to a cellular signal and then sends out a wifi signal that up 5 devices can be used. Just a thought for you.
